How our platform will cater exclusively to their needs
We want to make an easy-to-use platform exclusively for elderly people, where they can make their profile by stating their hobbies, interests, hometown, and other basic interests.
1. Interface definition:
- Large font of texts, as convenient for the elderly
- More visual representation rather than text, since visuals are more appealing and easy to get as compared to text, also visuals would be extremely helpful for the elderly who find difficulties in reading because of lack of education.
- Proper arrows to guide the steps involved in any of the processes to achieve a task
- Minimum information on the screen at a time to avoid confusion (similar keypad phones)
- Face icons of the people, whom they are making communities with
2. Making a user profile
- A profile can be made only by entering the name
- And interesting people can choose their interests from an inbuild list of interests on the platform (like Ramayan, Cricket, Diabetes, Illness, Politics, Congress, BJP, Gardening, etc.), after which they will be a part of different communities based on their interests
- The option of multiple languages selection, which would break the barrier of language.
3. Feature to Schedule meetings and events by minimum no. of steps. Any interested person can click to conduct a mass meeting and can choose the time and topic (choose from an inbuilt list of topics, or type through voice to text), after this a notification will be sent to everyone in that community and they can select Yes or No, depending on if they want to attend. And at the time of the meeting, interested people will get a call to join the meet similar to MS Teams. This will help to actively engage elderlies to promote knowledge transfer among their communities and it would create a kind of time-table that would encourage them to engage more and more with the people in their communities
- Notification for these meetings would be sent as soon as someone schedules a meeting, to everyone in the community, in the form of a voice message, which proves to be more effective in grabbing the attention of a person. A text message would also be sent, in case someone misses the voice message notification.
- Meeting calls (just as we get a phone call) would be sent at the time of the meeting, to enter the meeting with the utmost ease.
4. We aim to ensure the horizontal transfer of information among elderly people, for eg if someone knows- How to use a particular site/app/product, then they can share their experience through organizing a Video meet on our platform. This will be more useful because it will cater to the problems specifically elder people face while trying something new, and if someone from their age group will share it will be easier for them to understand.
5. We want to make communities on our platforms among elderly people based on their interests like Spiritual/Religious Community, Gardening Community, etc. Where community members can discuss and share their experiences. These communities can be made by the person itself by choosing other members, and also by the recommendations given on the basis of similarities in the interests chosen by a person.
6. If feasible we want to extend our purview to the vertical transfer of information from the elderly to the younger generation.
